Summary: The Heart of Arcrea follows the story of Druet the blacksmith, who, hoping to free his father from an unjust imprisonment, sets out on a quest that will solve an ancient riddle and crown a man as Arcrea’s first king. A host of memorable characters join Druet on his mission of justice, but opposition quickly rises to test their level of commitment and their faith in God. Will the dangerous wilds of Arcrea and her seven oppressive lords succeed in bringing an end to Druet’s quest and crush forever the kingdom’s hopes for a just king?

(Summary taken from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I’m finally reviewing this book, after I had already reviewed the second and third books of the series. I really like it. It’s a little rough, showing that it is the author’s first published work, but it’s good. The characters are interesting, and the adventure intriguing.

My Favorite Quotes:
“The people of Arcrea love him. They consider him a hero-worthy to claim our crown. Should he give the word, all of our people would rise up against us in his name to remove us from our rightful place in the seven seats of Arcrea.”

Book Review: The Arcrean Conquest book 3

Title: The Isle of Arcrea

Date Finished: February 13, 2014

Other works by author: The Heart of Arcrea,
The Fate of Arcrea

My Rating: 5

Summary: A woman appears from a little known isle off the coast of Arcrea asking for help for her son. Falconer undertakes the seemingly impossible mission which stirs up memories of his own, long suppressed, past.

Meanwhile a young shepherd named Seth ends up on an adventure of his own.

My Thoughts: Though I loved all the books, I liked this the best of the three. I’ve always reveled in stories involving forgotten pasts, and past secrets.
And while most of the original cast of characters from the first book only get minor roles I loved getting to know the new characters.

This action/adventure series is a must read, especially if you’re looking for Christian fantasy books without the magic.

Book Review: The Arcrean Conquest book 2

Title: The Fate of Arcrea
Author: Nicole Sager
Date Started: February 6, 2014
Date Finished: February 8, 2014

Other works by Author: The Heart of Arcrea (book 1)
The Isle of Arcrea (book 3)

My Rating: 4

Summary: Druet begins his reign as the first king of Arcrea and while the adventures continue for the original cast of characters the young king must quickly prepare his people for an oncoming war with Mizgala and dragon’s. What does Trenton, a young  Mizgalian who seems to have many secrets surrounding him, have to do with these threats?

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed the first book so I looked forward to reading this, and I was not disappointed. I thought it continued well from the previous book while telling it’s own story. The only think I didn’t really like was while the characters were distinct, to many of them were witty or sarcastic in some way, I think it would have benefited from a little more diversity in that line.

Where did I hear about this book: The first book, The Heart of Arcrea, was free for a limited time on Amazon. I learned that it was fantasy without the magic so I decided to give it a try. This book is described at the end of the first one.
