Summary: The book is separated into two parts. The first part follows Aragorn, Gimli,  and Legolas as they search for Merry and Pippin in the forest of Fangorn and commit to helping the people of Rohan. It also follows Merry and Pippin as they meet an Ent and watch as the Ents go to war.
The second part follows Frodo, Sam, and Gollum as they journey closer to Mordor.

My Thoughts: I haven’t quite finished it but it’s a library book and I couldn’t renew it any more and I promised a review for last Saturday. I was near the end when I finished.

Again I just have to say how much I admire Tolkien in the work he put into these books. A very enjoyable book and I would definitely recommend it to any of my friends (if they hadn’t all read it already).

Summary: Maria Morris is a normal nineteen year old girl living on Mars. She struggles trying to figure out what God wants her to do, whether it’s going to college on Mars, Earth, or something different. When her parents go missing on a business trip she is chosen to set out on a journey to find the lost crown jewels on Earth. Things get a little more difficult when the government orders that all Christians be marked and their passports revoked. She stands up for her faith but still manages to get home and from there continues her quest for the lost prince.

My Thoughts: The writing is a little rough and I ran into several typos but the story is very nice.

It was a quick read for me which was satisfying since I’ve been reading longer books lately. Full of action, and intrigue a very interesting story.

My Rating: 4

Summary: Frodo Baggins, nephew to Bilbo Baggins, is given the ring that was found by Bilbo on his quest (related in The Hobbit). As the evil of Mordor begins to spread over Middle Earth, a small band accompany Frodo as he begins his quest to destroy the ring in the cracks of doom. An elf, a dwarf, two men, a wizard, and four hobbits make their journey south encountering many dangers and evil along the way.

My Thoughts: It’s more intense than The Hobbit, and there was a little more magic then I would have liked but the story is wonderful.

I greatly admire all the time and thought Tolkien put into creating this world, there is so much rich history, , the written and spoken version of the elven tongue, such a variety of life, it’s amazing.

The characters are endearing and the story gripping. I’m greatly looking forward to beginning The Two Towers.

Summary: Bilbo, a very respectable hobbit who never goes on any adventures, gets thrown into an adventure of epic proportions. In the company of Dwarves he encounters many strange creatures along the road to the Lonely Mountain including wood elves, goblins, giant spiders, Gollum and others.

My Thoughts: I was very excited to begin reading Tolkiens books for the first time, I used to think I wouldn’t like them but I was very wrong.

The Hobbit was written in a style very different from what I expected. It’s got a whimsical feel which I pictured almost as if it’s a grandfather telling a story to his family around the fire in such a way that little children can understand and older children and adults will enjoy.

The story was engaging and I didn’t want to put it down.
