Summary: Harvey Cheney Jr. is the arrogant, spoiled son of a railroad tycoon. When he falls overboard and is picked up by a fishing schooner he must learn to work and be respectful.

My Thoughts: My family has loved this story for a long time, we discovered it as an audiobook and listened to it on a road trip. The character development of Harvey is very good and the friends he meets and adventure’s he has along the way are fun and interesting. A very sweet story.

My Favorite Quotes:
“After violent emotion most people and all boys demand food.”

Like many other unfortunate young people, Harvey had never in all his life received a direct order – never, at least, without long, and sometimes tearful, explanations of the advantages of obedience and the reasons for the request. “

It thrilled through him when he first felt the keel answer to his hand on the spokes and slide over the long hollows as the foresail scythed back and forth against the blue sky. “
